Carol Brieseman, Rm 5 Teacher, Yrs 5/6Carol Brieseman: Room 9 Teacher (Yrs 3/4 Terms 3 & 4 2012)

I have been involved with the school for the past 12 years; my two daughters both went through the school and my son is currently a student. I worked part time at Hampton Hill until 2008 when I became full time. As well as teaching my class, I also teach a small group of school students the violin; am in charge of setting the school up as an Enviroschool; have coached hockey for the last four years; and been actively involved in Tawa Goes to Town which all the Tawa schools are involved in. My interests include walking (I do half marathon’s); I play the viola; and am passionate about gardening – which students help me with around the school grounds.

Christy Steers, Rm 2 Teacher, Yrs 1/2Christy Steers: Room 4 Teacher (Yrs 1/2)

Hi there, I first came to Hampton Hill School in 2009 to do a teacher trainee placement. In 2010 I was thrilled to gain a full time teaching position. I really enjoy being a member of our learning community. The staff are friendly and supportive and the children are all so unique and inquisitive! I am originally from Dunedin and attended Otago University. In my spare time I enjoy snowboarding, bodyboarding, yoga, concerts, travelling, kickboxing, reading, chess and meditation. I am passionate about inspiring people to reach their goals and believe in themselves.

Joanne Speight, Rm 3 Teacher, Yrs 1/2Joanne Speight: Room 3 Teacher / Junior Syndicate Leader (Yrs 1/2)

I have had a long association with Hampton Hill School. My own children attended this school and have very pleasant memories. I have been involved in many ways: first I was a parent helper, then a student teacher, then a “real” teacher, then an advisor of mathematics and back to being a teacher again. I obviously love working in this environment! I have taught at all the year levels and currently am the team leader for the Junior Syndicate. Out of school I enjoy Scottish Country Dancing. I have had lots of involvement in dog sports (Obedience, Agility and a little bit of Rally and Tracking). Unfortunately I don’t have a dog that can work at the moment. I enjoy attempting to play golf and exploring the walking tracks around the area.
