Kia ora, ko Louise Bray-Burns toku ingoa.
I am very proud to be the Principal of Hampton Hill School and am honoured to be leading such an excellent, family focused learning community. I have been working in education for the past 25 years and have taught and led in all areas of primary and intermediate schools.
Hampton Hill School values the diverse ethnicity of the all students which allows us to provide a rich and dynamic background for learning. Our students are valued and supported to make choices and to take responsibility for their decisions.
I believe that the focus for our school needs to be constantly on the business of learning, so that every individual, both child and adult, is engaged in learning opportunities. We hold high expectations for student achievement and promote developing and extending students talents through a variety of learning experiences. Alongside this, we aim to ensure that each child leaves our school being a well-rounded citizen with a strong sense of self-belief. I am passionate about working together with staff, students and parents to make our school the best it can be.
We welcome, encourage and expect parents/caregiver participation in all areas of school life. There needs to be a true partnership between home and school. Research shows that when parents and caregivers take an active and supportive interest in the school, children develop positive attitudes to learning and achieve accordingly.
This partnership involves: The parents/caregivers being responsible for ensuring that their child comes to school:
- Regularly
- Appropriately dressed
- Well fed
- After adequate sleep
- In good health
- With all the equipment they need e.g. pencil, books etc
- Homework set has been done
The school and teachers being responsible for ensuring that each child:
- Is taught at their appropriate level
- Makes progress appropriate to their age and ability
- Works in a stimulating environment
- Is listened to
- Is adequately supervised and cared for during their time at the school
- Is referred to appropriate support agencies whenever necessary
Through the school’s “Open Door” policy we welcome parents and visitors to share our children’s educational successes and challenges. If you are an intending parent or visitor to the school community, you are welcome to contact me at the school if you have any queries or would like to view the school in action. Please feel free to ring Sara in the school office for an appointment on 232 6509 or email me directly lou.brayburns@hamptonhill.school.nz
Kind regards
Louise Bray-Burns
